Children of Hope’s praise and worship band are called, “El Shaddai”.  El Shaddai is
a Hebrew word which describes one of the many attributes of God.  El Shaddai means, God is more than enough and sufficient for my every need.  Each member of the band stands as a living testimony to this truth… “God is sufficient for me.”

El Shaddai

“Children of Hope believes that worship should be the first priority of the true believer in Christ.  Not, just on Sunday at a church service but everyday with their whole lives.”  John 4:23-24 Jesus says: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such does the Father seek to be his worshippers.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.  God, let us be true worshippers!

The following is writings and preaching of A.W. Tozer on worship with some paraphrasing.

The primary purpose of God in creation was to prepare a people capable of worshipping Him.  This is taught plainly in the Scriptures.  Also, every glimpse of heaven we have in the scriptures shows the creatures there worshipping God.  But, we can not truly delight in worship of God if we have not met Him in a personal, spiritual experience through the new birth.  In the book of Genesis, man was created to worship, he fell into sin.  So, now there is a regenesis called regeneration or being born-again from above.

These things make up worship; love, admiration, honor, and fascination of our God.  Worship is to feel in the heart and express in an appropriate manner a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe.  Worship humbles you.  How can you feel these things if you have not had a personal-real encounter with God?  Worship must also be entire.  The total life must worship God.  We cannot worship God and live after our own nature.  It is when God’s nature and our nature begin to harmonize that the power of the name of God begins to operate within us.

Today, true worship (“in spirit and in truth”) seems to have passed away like the Shekinah glory from the tabernacle.  As a result, we are left to our own creative ways and forced to make up the lack of spontaneous worship by bringing in countless cheap activities to hold the attention of people.  We must get back to true worship!  When all of the fully-redeemed universe is back once more worshipping God in full voice, happily and willingly and out of the heart, then we will see the new creation and the new heaven and the new earth!  Worship seeks union with its beloved, and an active effort to close the gap between the heart and the God it adores.  That is worship at its best.
